About the Owners

For Don Shingler and Christina Martell, Casa La Ventana is the realization of a 15 year dream.  In the early 1990s, Christina and Don quit their jobs, bought an old blue van and, for nine months, traveled through Mexico, Central America and ultimately, South America.  They enjoyed varied and unique inns and residencias throughout the Americas.  Their experiences during this travel changed their lives forever.

When they returned to the US, they focused on the plan of returning somewhere south of the border and creating a home and guest quarters to provide a taste of their enjoyment of the Latin culture for others.  When they were ready to make the move, they searched for an area with beaches, ocean, easy airport access, good health care, and easy access to a larger town.

They discovered the pueblo of Boca de Tomatlan and the magic of the jungled mountains, the Bay of Banderas, the lagoon and Rio Los Horcones.   And best of all, they received the added gift of a community of wonderful local friends.

Drawing on her professional backgound in housing development and design, Christina has created the romantic Casa La Ventana hacienda guest quarters, incorporating the design elements of Old Mexico in a beach pueblo setting.

Don and Christina invite you to their creation in paradise, a taste of real Mexico, pueblo luxury.  Bienvenidos a Casa La Ventana!
